I went to a Chicago Bears Fan Convention in the late 1990s (?) and bought a print of the infamous 3-Negative photo where Payton was being ornery at practice and pulling Matt Suhey's shorts down.  It is well know as an "iconic" photo.  The booth where I purchased it was manned by the man that actually took the pictures.  At the time he told me that he was trying to obtain the rights to his work, but had not been able to do it quite yet.  The photoghrapher was Jim Maentanis and he autographed the poster/print for me. It's quite an interesting story with a news article written by Rick Telander.  Read here:

In 2002 the Bears played their season home games at Memorial Stadium at The University of Illinois.  I took my daughter there to see the Bears play the Eagles.  While we were tailgating, a Chicago artistg named Paul Ashack was wandering the lot and selling prints of his "Back In The Day" work.  I bought one and he autographed it.

About The Artist:
Paul Ashack was born and raised on the south side of Chicago, he began drawing at the early age of 4 and hasn’t stopped painting for 70 years. He graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago and then attended the American Academy of Art. He was 19 years old when he started working at the Tribune as an apprentice worked his way to an illustrator where he worked for 42 years, until retirement. Paul now works out of his studio in Willowbrook. His collection of work expresses his deep love for Chicago and all of it’s beauty. His medium is oil, watercolor, pen and ink, and sketch. Every painting that you see has a story

Above is a Super Bowl XLI Bears Vs. Colts Football  Autographed  by Tony Dungy  and Lovie Smith.  Only 125 of these autographed balls were available.  The "Historic Event" pertains to Super Bowl XLI because it was the FIRST Super Bowl where the Head Coaches of both competitors ( The Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts) were African American. Below is an article about Fritz Pollard, who was the first African American NFL Coach, to which this Collector's ball is dedicated.

According to author, William Henry Lewis* who writes the following :  Fritz Pollard was "The first African American coach in the National Football League. On February 5, 2005, Mr. Pollard was selected for induction into the Hall of Fame.

Frederick Douglass “Fritz” Pollard was the first African American coach in the National Football League.

“Fritz” Pollard grew up in Chicago. By the time he graduated from high school, he was a talented baseball player, running back and a three-time Cook County track champion. He briefly played football for Northwestern, Harvard and Dartmouth before receiving a scholarship from the Rockefeller family to attend Brown University in 1915.

It was here where Pollard led his squad to the 1915 Rose Bowl game. He was the first African American to play in the Rose Bowl, and the second to be named an All-American in college football. After leaving Brown, Pollard briefly pursued a degree in dentistry, worked as director of an army YMCA, and coached football at Lincoln University.

Pollard signed to play for the Akron Pros in the American Professional Football Association (APFA) and led Akron to a championship in 1920. He was named head coach in 1921 and continued to play for the Pros as well. The APFA was renamed the National Football League (NFL) in 1922, making Pollard the first African American coach in NFL history."

Bought this great autographed shirt (I also have a large collection of 1983 Huddles items posted on this blog).  The Sellers offered this as a description of the auction:

"1983 Huddles Chicago Bears '85 Superbowl Team Signature T-Shirt

This autograph T-Shirt was signed by nine members of the 1985 Chicago Bears football team, the champions of Superbowl XX.  Signers include Dennis McKinnon, Brian Baschnagel, Jimbo Covert, Walter Payton, Gary Fencik, Steve McMichael, Dan Hampton, Mike Singletary and William Perry.  Four of these players are in the NFL Hall of Fame.  My wife and I chased all over the Chicago area collecting these signatures and I personally witness each signing.  Many examples of these signatures can easily be found searching Ebay and other Internet sites for comparison.  The shirt has never been worn or washed.  Size medium."
